Having a good idea for improving your processes or toolsets is often the start of a long journey to get your idea realized. At Damen Services, we worked — until recently — in unstructured Adobe FrameMaker. In May of this year, we started our transition to IXIA CCMS a DITA component content management system. The journey, from getting funding for our idea to completing our implementation, was an interesting one.

In this talk, I will take you through all the steps we took to get our improvement proposal approved by management and everything that came after. From documenting our requirements, to selecting solutions and vendors, and finally, executing our implementation project.

Takeaways

  • How to go from a good idea to a business case for management and get approval.
  • How to document your requirements.
  • How the solution and vendor selection process works.
  • What the implementation project looks like.
